Pick up and drop off was from the main reception, so its a great excuse to ditch the car for the day.Īt $175 plus tip per person it wasn’t cheap, but I still believe it was great value. This is a full day’s adventure to see Yosemite’s icons – Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall, Half Dome, El Capitan, Tunnel View – plus a 3-mile hike among Giant Sequoias. We booked the Wonders of Yosemite Hike and Tour. I also love asking tour guides questions so I definitely got the value out of it! Rush Creek Lodge Recreation DepartmentĪs it was our first time in Yosemite we were keen to book a tour and let an expert explain all the main sites to us. If you don’t fancy hitting up the main restaurant, this is a good option. The general store is well stocked and has plenty of snacks, sandwiches and light meals to heat up with your in room mircrowave. They have a great selection of local wine and beer, and its bound to be a great place for you to unwind with friends and family Its a little on the pricy side, but you pay for convenience and honestly, anything else will be a decent drive away! The main tavern restaurant offers high quality food in a comfortable, sports bar type setting. We booked into the cheapest grade room on Expedia and were blown away when we received an upgrade to a two bedroom villa! You’ll see on the website that all the rooms are finished to a high standard, potentially the highest quality room in the whole of Yosemite. We dropped our bags, grabbed a lunch and got directions from the desk over to Hetch Hetchy for a short venture into the park pre checkin. As we arrived a good few hours early, understandably our room wasn’t ready. We were jet lagged, so made an early trip over to Yosemite from San Francisco. You’ll also take advantage of a cheaper hotel rate as hotels in the actual park command a premium that isn’t always reflected in the quality of the lodging! Although the hotel is technically outside of the park, you’ll be closer to the main valley floor and a lot of the popular viewing spots than many hotels inside the gate. This is perfect for anyone travelling over from San Francisco (it’s about 3.5 hours from the bay area) as you’ll be heading this way into the park anyway. Rush creek lodge sits just outside of the national park, about five minutes away from the Westgate entrance. High quality recreational and tour options Have a pool and hot tub for late night star gazing ![]() If you have a similar list, this could be the place for you. When looking for a hotel for Yosemite it had to tick a few boxes. ![]() I’ve visited California many times before, and now I’ve experienced the wonder of Yosemite, I’m disappointed I hadn’t visited sooner! This was our first time to the Yosemite National Park, and we were glad we chose Rush Creek for our stay.
